Title: Earth in Half
Jaeden Frye (Short Story)
They finally go outside after thinking that the riders are gone. The riders are one of the multiple gangs that survive by stealing from others, made after the aliens split the world in half. Jared is the one to lead everyone outside the bunker with the brains of their little civilization Alfred right behind them. Rory was daydreaming as they were walking down the hill outside the bunker. Jared tries to stop himself from running to go out and get supplies and leave everyone behind, but Alfred calms him to stay complacent despite his explosive nature and stay with the rest of the group.
As they approach the spot that they keep canned food and water Alfred noticed engines rumbling in the distance and so did everyone else in the group. After a while, the engines went silent and Alfred tried to comfort the group and told them to be as quick as possible. After walking all the way to collect food they stay inside just in case they were being followed. They walk outside and see cars parked and a complete silence fills the air. It was silent before but not like this.
They walk slower and slower with each step. Jared screams “come out cowards”. Alfred whispers “shut up Jared it’s the riders” and then a spear is thrown at Jared but misses almost hitting his foot. They look at the spear and it has the rider’s symbol printed on it. Shortly after that countless spears were thrown and ended up hitting Rory in the arm, leaving him to bleed out while the others ran to cover in the food stash. Jared wasted no time picking up Rory like he was just paper and ran as fast as he could to the bunker.
While he did save Rory he left everyone behind. Luckily they were there for Jared and not the others. When Jared gets back he quickly opens and closes the bunker. The rest of the group used a backup entrance built for this very situation. Back at the bunker safe and sound Rory thanks Jared for saving him and then later thanks Alfred for bringing everyone back to the bunker. Alfred is surprisingly happy and not shook that they now know of our existence in the area. He didn’t plan or set it up at all but it gives him more trust within the group.
As everyone starts to split up to their rooms Rory, Alfred, and Jared talk about how they’re coming accustomed to the earth in the state it’s in. Alfred laughs at the idea that some people call it a “new earth” even though it’s still technically the same earth just with an alien side connected to it. But Jared stays dead silent, after not finding it funny. Jared speaks to both of them about the distrust he feels. Jared has always felt distrust in the group ever since he got there, but he likes Rory the most out of all of them. He continues to talk about his distrust and feels like they were set up when they got attacked because nobody could’ve known they were out there unless the riders were told by someone on the inside.

Title: In the Dark
A shot in the dark
It is seeming to be hard
But I will not stop

Title: So Fast
I went so so fast
I went so fast like the flash
You could not see me
Tanka #1:
Title: See
I do not see you
Where are you I can not see
I need eyes to see
I do not know where to be
I am trying to see this

Title: The Light
How the light can show
The light can also hide the truth
It can be controlled
By good or evil nobody knows
No matter the light will choose

In the abyss, I reside
Where I was born
Where I will perish
The other side
The light is what I cherish
I've never been able to have it
But I feel like I know it
I feel like I can sow it
But I do not know it

Title: The Ground
I stopped to fall down
I am on the ground now
I try to get up
But I can’t get up
I know while I’m on the ground
The people drive by and clown
For they think they are up
They are really down
It allows me to move
But won’t let me in my own groove
I wish I could choose
The way I could move
I know while I’m on the ground
The people drive by and clown
For they think they are up
They are really down
They drive by me and smile
For they think I am in a pile
In what pile they don’t know I am stuck
For the pain that I suffer the fortune is buff
